Linux Kernel Memory Leak Vulnerability in imx-sdma DMA Engine

Vulnerability

A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's imx-sdma DMA engine. The issue arises in the sdma_transfer_init function, where the sdma_load_context function's failure can lead to a memory leak. If sdma_load_context fails, the sdma_desc structure is freed, but the associated desc->bd buffer is not, causing a memory leak. This vulnerability has been addressed in the Linux kernel.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to a memory leak, causing increased memory usage and potential degradation of system performance over time.
