Linux Kernel Apple AIC IRQ Chip Refcount Leak Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A refcount leak vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel's Apple AIC IRQ chip handling. The issue arose because the function 'aic_of_ic_initof_get_child_by_name()' returned a node pointer with an incremented reference count, which was not properly decremented when no longer needed. This oversight could lead to memory management issues.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could result in a refcount leak, causing memory management problems that could be exploited for arbitrary code execution or denial-of-service.
