Linux Kernel IPMI IPMB Refcount Leak Vulnerability

Vulnerability

A refcount leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's IPMI IPMB subsystem. The issue arises in the 'ipmi_ipmb_probeof_parse_phandle()' function, which returns a node pointer with an incremented reference count. The function fails to release the reference properly, leading to a memory leak. The vulnerability has been addressed by adding the missing 'of_node_put()' call to correct the refcount management.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a memory leak, causing increased memory usage and potential degradation of system performance over time.
