A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's watchdog driver for the RZ/G2L platform has been addressed. The issue, identified as 'BUG: Invalid wait context', occurred during the restart callback process. This vulnerability was introduced in version 5.17.0-rc5 and was related to improper handling of clock management, which could lead to synchronization problems. The issue was particularly noticeable when testing with the Renesas default configuration.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a deadlock situation, where the systemd shutdown process is unable to complete, potentially causing a hang during system reboot.
