MyVideoConverter Pro Buffer Overflow Vulnerability Leading to Denial-of-Service

Vulnerability

A local buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in MyVideoConverter Pro version 3.14. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a denial-of-service condition by sending an excessively long string, approximately 10,000 bytes, to the registration code input field. The application crashes as a result of this exploitation.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability leads to a crash of the MyVideoConverter Pro application, causing a denial-of-service condition.

Reproduction

To reproduce this vulnerability, first create a text file named 'Evil.txt' containing 10,000 bytes of data. This can be done using a simple Python script that writes the buffer data into the file. After creating the file, open MyVideoConverter Pro and copy the contents of 'Evil.txt' from the clipboard. Paste the data into the 'Copy and Paste Registration Code' field and click 'OK'. The application will then crash.
